Black Brook Bonanza
With nature as my guide I am looking for a Black Brook Bonanza. Vancouver mid-island has many great hiking spots. Today I will share with you some photos from the Black Brook trail in Lighthouse country.

Starting from the lighthouse trail south parking lot, You make your way down a beautiful forest lane way, below.

As you get the end of this lane way and over the railway tracks, the trail to Black Brook goes left at the Woodlot Connector, below.

The Black Brook Trail follows the Woodlot connector trail into the forested area. These trails are very raw and natural with roots of trees to navigate over.

Many old and twisted forest stumps are visible in the forest, above. These stumps are well-used by the local wildlife as they contain lots of insects.

It truly is a magical forest that we are walking in and I am grateful to be here. Look for the $10 trail sign and then you will turn right, below.

Soon a steep hill will take you down a ravine to the Black Brook. Swimming is optional!

Sunshine peaks out through the trees and the forest is silent except for a few bird tweets.

There are 4 crossings of the brook by wooden bridges, below. Lots of mountain bikes use this trail so it is maintained well.

The trail winds back into the forest where there is another “$10 trail” sign to the right. Below, huckleberry berries abound in the upper forest.

It is not unusual to see bears on this trail but today we had to settle for a squirrel, below.

Finishing off this Black Brook Bonanza photo session with beautiful fireweed, below.

The Black Brook hike took us about 1 hour. We took our time, absorbing all those wonderful forest vibes. There are many other hikes to do in the same area so we will be back soon!
